The Turqouise Chair

Last summer, I spent a fun day thrift shopping and picking with my two beautiful daughters. My youngest found this chair and immediately had a vision for it.

We took it home to the farm, snapped a picture and then preceded to pull it apart. We pulled staples, and more staples. Three layers of staples to be exact! I won’t bore you with all the pictures.

The chair pad was in great shape. We were able to reuse everything from the welt cord to the cushion itself.

Notice the graphic tangerine fabric. Very fun! We used all the old pieces of fabric for our pattern.

Meanwhile, the youngest, picked out this beautiful shade of turquoise for the chair itself.  She has always loved using color on anything she does. The wood was sanded and two coats of this lovely color applied on the chair.

While the chair dried – approximately 6 months or more – I worked on sewing the chair pad. Or worked on it and set it aside. Some projects take awhile to get back to – especially if the whole thing needs to be ripped apart because it does not fit properly.

I am not saying that was the case here, but it might have been…

Ta daa! Here is the chair pad, finally finished! (6 months later)

Together at last. Love it!

My youngest, thought it would be good to snap an after picture in the exact same place that we took the before picture. Unfortunately since it has been so long since we started this project, it has now snowed and there is construction going on, (ahem…it is after all six months later)
so we cannot show you a picture of this gorgeous chair sitting in the same gorgeous view on the prairie. Sometimes life is just that way.

But we can show you our colorful little chair with a re-purposed farm table and hutch. All painted in the same gorgeous color. Notice the exquisite vintage lamp. Adorable! All for sale at the little school house on the prairie.

Some things are worth waiting for. Even six months.

Hi, Shelly…I love your turquoise chair. It turned out beautiful. I have a chair…sort of a chair with a curved back and it looks old. It was in our house in Superior and we moved it down here. I don’t have any room for it…would you like it? I will take a picture of it and send it to you. If you want it, you sure can have it.
