Pillow Talk

I love old movies. I have been watching them since I was a little girl. (Perhaps that translates into my love for anything vintage.) One of my favorite movies  stars the dashing and handsome Rock Hudson and the beautiful Doris Day. “Pillow Talk” is a delightful romantic comedy. I recommend it highly. So what does “Pillow Talk” have to do with this post you ask? Not much, other than it made for a good title. You will see why in a minute.

Yesterday the wind was blowing and howling across the prairie. It was a good day to stay snug and warm inside the house, watch an old movie, and start a project. I had been waiting for a day just like this to start a sewing project. Although I know how to sew, I don’t particularly love to sew. However I like to create and design and have recently been inspired by many of the talented ladies in blog-land to try a few sewing projects using drop cloths.  One of the posts I ran across was on how to make a couple of shabby chic pillows. I saw these particular designs on a blog called Ink Blots and Polka Dots.  So I won’t do a tutorial here. Just jump on over to visit Kristin and she will give you great instructions on how to make both of these pillows.

They were fun and easy. The rosettes on the first pillow took a little time but I love how they turned out. The ruffled pillow turned out equally lovely. Here they are on my sofa.

On a little blue chair at the Prairie Chick shop.

On an adorable red wicker rocker. (Also available at the Prairie Chick shop.)

And on the sofa at (you guessed it) the Prairie Chick shop! These little babies are so versatile. They look great on anything!

I hope this inspires some of you to get creative or to come on out and visit the Prairie Chick shop where if interested, you might be able to  purchase these pillows, or something just as sweet. The shop will be open February 9, 10, and 11th from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily. And we will also be doing a couple of chocolate tastings in the evenings. I will post more about that later when all of the details have been worked out.

So come on out  and we will “talk” pillows. Maybe we will even pop some popcorn and watch an old movie.
See you on the prairie,

Love your blog! And I LOVE the red wicker! I haven’t seen that until now! Where were you hiding that?

      Thanks Miss Rachel.
By the way can you say “red wicker rocker” five times in a row?
      Really fast?
(The rocker was hiding in my workshop but it is a fairly new purchase. It used to be cream and royal blue. Unfortunately I forgot to snap a before picture. The red is much better – believe me!)

I love these pillows! And the fact that they match everything makes them twice as adorable.

1.) Wish you were closer so we could have a movie night and watch it together.
2.) Glad you like them. Because I love you so much, you too, may get a set given to you!

I love this movie. I love TCM. I watch these shows all the time. I love Doris Day and James Garner the most. But Rock Hudson, wow! Have you seen the movie “Come September”, Rock Hudson and Gina Lola Briditta. The Best!!!!
