Dream Dinner Party

For years I have admired this picture. Isn’t it gorgeous?

I am not sure where I first saw it, who styled it, or who published it, but I dream about having a dinner party like this under the big maple tree in our front yard. It would be perfectly lovely and dreamy.

Here is a picture of our tree.

It even has the branches that spread out and lend themselves to hanging beautiful, glowing lanterns.

This was one of a few existing trees on the property when our house was being built in the early 1900’s.  Unfortunately a tornado came through the area before the house was finished and knocked all the rafters down. At the same time, the tornado, snapped the tree off. Amazingly, the tree grew back! You can actually see a line where it was broken off and then began to grow back. The tree also looks as though it may have been split down the middle. Now it almost looks like two trees joined together.

Here is a close up of the trunk.

It’s enormous!  I love this tree. (So does our beautiful Golden Retriever. He loves to lay in the shade it provides.)

This summer for sure Farm Boy and I are going to throw a dinner party under that tree and it is going to look like my inspiration picture. I promise to take lots of pictures when we do and to share it with all of you. By the way…who wants to come?

See you on the Prairie,

Shelly

I would love to attend the Mid-Summer Night Dream Dinner Party!!! What can I bring? I think this would demand cuisine far more interesting than grapes and carrots!!! You have amazing vision and of course, the perfect tree for such a gathering! I’ll start saving all my glass jars. :)
