A Chair Makeover
When redoing a piece of furniture there are endless possibilities. It can make a person crazy!
- Paint or not to paint
- What color to paint.
- What fabric to upholster with.
- Wax or poly.
- Embellishments or no embellishments.
- Distress or not distress
Many times I have a vision of what I am hoping the end product will turn out to be. Sometimes it turns out the way I think it will, but often times, as I am working on a piece, it can take on a whole new life from what I originally planned.
Take this chair. I saw it in my head as a shabby chic piece. Maybe with a grain sack cover.White on white with a subtle texture. Then I started to second guess myself. Any fun piece of fabric would look great on it – but then, it would not live up to my vision. I can’t make up my mind! So I decided to let all of you help me. Here are a couple of options. What do you think?
NUMBER ONE, NUMBER TWO, NUMBER THREE or NUMBER FOUR?
NUMBER ONE
NUMBER TWO
NUMBER THREE
NUMBER FOUR
I know! Hard decision… Right? Every piece of fabric turns the chair into something different.
Number one is more formal and traditional. Number two is subtle and feminine. Number three is fun and playful (and it is also a piece of vintage Barkcloth – which I love.). Number four is what I originally had in mind. A vintage grain sack – that looks much better in person. Pictures do not do it justice.
So my friends I leave it up to you…
What is the fate of our little Shabby-Chic chair? Or should I say Prairie-Chic(k) chair?
Is it NUMBER ONE, NUMBER TWO, NUMBER THREE or NUMBER FOUR?
See you on the prairie,

Definitely your original choice…#4. Close second for me would be #1
I have to say, this is a hard decision. This is my order of preference…#2, #4, #1 and then #3. Good Luck! No matter what you choose, it will be fantabulous!
Ooooh, that is a tough decision. I love #1 and #4 almost equally. But I think I agree that it should be #4 – I love that grain sack!
I love the vintage feed sacks, but I am drawn to #3. The color of the feed sack doesn’t stand out as well as the bark cloth
I like the vintage Bark Cloth-color is so important and it adds a “pop” to any room you put it in! #3 gets my vote!
I would choose #3 –I love the barkcloth.
From these photos I’d go with #4, but I LOVED #3 in person!!!
